- Toma Piedmontese - This simple mountain cheese has a thin rind with a custard-like interior, pierced by small pores.
- Grana Padano Stravecchio - The original hard Italian cheese, Grana Padano is a firm, dry, fruity cheese from the Po Valley of Northern Italy. Stravecchio is aged for an optimal 20 months. Grate it over pasta, vegetables or soup, or serve it as a table cheese drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.
- Mountain Gorgonzola - Italy's famous blue cheese comes from Lombardy. Made from cow's milk taken from local herds that graze on beautiful rolling pastures, no Italian Cheese Assortment would be complete without a cut of authentic Gorgonzola.
- Pecorino Toscano - This soft, sheep's milk cheese is made in the hills of Tuscany. It is young, sweet and springy. We find that this combination well represents the wide variety of flavors and textures found in Italian cheeses.

Tuscan Skies is an intimate musical journey with Andrea Bocelli. All of the songs featured in this program are new and have been especially written for him, as they are based on and inspired by his own memories and fantasies. Each song at once celebrates Bocelli's soaring spirit, while it is also deeply rooted in the landscape, the people and the soul of his beloved Tuscany. Melodramma (Guerrini & Luciani), Il Mistero Dell'Amore (Laurex & Di Pietro), L'Incontro (Sartori / Bocelli / Bonomo), L'Ultimo Re (Napoletano & Di Marco), L'Abitudine (Guerrini & Calabrese) (with Helena), Resta Qui (Musumeci & Bocelli), Mille Lune Mille Onde (Sartori / Foster / Quarantotto / Corradini), Mascagni (Mascagni / Marioni / Biagioni / Botteghi), Tornerą la Neve (Malavasi), E Sara' a Settembre (Someone Like You) (Smith & Salerno), E Mi Manchi Tu (Bartak & Calabrese). |
Though she made her first movie at the age of 13, Diane Lane has only blossomed into a true star in her 30s, and Under the Tuscan Sun marks her full flowering. After a brutal divorce, Frances (Lane, Unfaithful, A Walk on the Moon) is persuaded by her friend Patti (Sandra Oh) to take a tour of Italy--where, on a whim that she hopes will rescue her from her desperate unhappiness, she buys a rundown villa and sets out to renovate it. Along the way, she gets advice from a former Fellini actress, meets a scrumptious Italian lover, and helps support Patti after her own relationship derails. The conclusion of Under the Tuscan Sun holds no surprises, but the deft turns and observations along the way are delightful. Lane carries the film effortlessly but surely, exuding both heartbreak and re-awakening passion. --Bret Fetzer |
Proof, a brilliant allegory about trust, is at once mordantly funny, chilling, and touching. It keeps us off balance from the beginning, challenging our assumptions about everything from the art of filmmaking to the nature of human relationships. The tone is reminiscent of David Mamet and Harold Pinter, but Australian writer-director Jocelyn Moorhouse has a quirky outlook all her own. Hugo Weaving (later known as the villainous Agent Smith in The Matrix), plays Martin, a blind photographer who compulsively shoots photos as proof of the actuality of his existence. He relies on his spiteful housekeeper, Celia (Genevičve Picot), to tell him what's in his snapshots. But can he trust her to tell him the truth? Celia rearranges the furniture so Martin will trip over it. Why? Because she's in love with him. But Martin won't let her into his heart; he's never been able to trust anyone. Into this quagmire of mutual torment walks Andrew, a regular guy personified, to become the first real friend Martin has ever had. At this point the picture jumps up a notch, for Andrew is played by hunky, appealing young Russell Crowe, whose emotional range and star quality are already unmistakable. Just when we think that Proof has devolved into yet another feel-good buddy picture, the ground shifts again beneath our feet. There are no easy answers in this movie; that's the pleasure in it. --Laura Mirsky![]() Tags : Proof

Shadows in the Sun is a feel-good movie that tells the story of two men who're struggling to overcome their fears of not being good enough. When Jeremy Taylor (a charming Joshua Jackson of Dawson's Creek) is assigned the unenviable task of tracking down and signing up reclusive author Weldon Parish (Harvey Keitel), he has his work cut out for him. The American expatriate hasn't written a book in 20 years, has no interest in dealing with junior editors such as Taylor, and sees no reason why he should change his idyllic lifestyle in Italy to worry about meeting hurried deadlines and publisher's editorial changes. In reality, Parish--who stopped writing when his wife died--is scared he won't be able to live up to his reputation as a relevant literary icon. After a few fistfights and the reclaiming of a stolen cow, the two begin to bond. A little. As Parish tells Taylor, "I dislike you less today than yesterday." Not as subtle as Diane Lane's Under the Tuscan Sun, Shadows in the Sun highlights the beauty of rural Italy--and of Claire Forlani, who plays Parish's daughter Isabella. The warm acting and lush scenery transcend the film's slow-moving pace and the predictable ending, which, in movies like this, can be nothing other than happy. --Jae-Ha Kim |

This sampler features four cheeses that are typical of four distinct regions of Italy: |
Cipriani Food Tagliarelle Extra Thin Egg Pasta. 8.82 oz. In 1931 Giuseppe Cipriani opened the doors to Harry's Bar, just off Piazza San Marco in Venice. The concept was to serve his customers as they would want to be served themselves. The secret of the Cipriani restaurants is to treat each guest as royalty. The pasta they have created is special, seven grade a fresh eggs are used in every kilo of pasta, the dough is processed throught the press one hundred times, making it thin, and delicate in texture. |
The genetically pure and very rare "Porcelana" criollo bean, called this because of its translucent white colour, results in a chocolate taste of exceptional clarity, 70% fondant. This bean goes far beyond the traditional notion of chocolate: it is an intense chocolate of great strength yet tantalising delicacy, with a composition that imparts freshness, leaving the palate clean (and, we often find, desirous of more!). This is a highly complex and sophisticated chocolate, in which each individual will experience uniquely its flavour notes. These may include notes of light spice, a hint of dark smoke, and nuances of red wine. A true gourmet's chocolate. Produced in a limited edition by Amedei, with each box of napolitains hand-numbered. |
