HuangJingGui, also called HuangYan is one of the four famous Anxi Oolong along with Tie Guan Yin. The name Huang Jin Gui means "Golden Osmanthus", which is earned through the golden liquor its yellowish green leaves infused into, and for its distinct Osmanthus flower-like aroma, which enjoys the landatory title of "penetrating fragrance"
Tie Guan Yin is another of Chinas top ten teas. Tie Guan Yin translates as Iron Goddess of Mercy. The tea itself is as grand as its name. Oolong tea is partially or semi-fermented, they have some of the qualities of both black and green teas. Oolong teas are beautiful and full bodied with a fragrant flavor and fruity, sweet aroma.
This is a fruity sweet green Oolong (wulong) that is tightly rolled. This is a dense tea that creates darker yellow liquor (liquid), which is strong and orchid like. This tea tastes best using about one full tablespoon to 6-8 oz of water at just below boiling. Don't infuse more than 2-3 minutes or the brew will bitter, as this is still a green Oolong. This variety also works nicely in a plain cup with the leaves at the bottom, but reduce the leaves to less than a teaspoon or your cup will be too strong.
The Benshan oolong tea comes from Fujian province. Most noticeably the Benshan Oolong tea plant have extremely strong branches and their peduncles are bright and thin. Benshan means ice peak and to Chinese the Benshan Oolong symbolizes strength and endurance. When brewed, this tea offers a smooth taste, nutty flavor, and a sweet lingering aftertaste. This tea is also great served chilled.
