This is a brand new picture/photo frame. Solid wood 3.5'' wide and 1.5'' thick molding with a 0.25'' deep rabbet is covered with a thin layer of gesso and painted flat black (meaning, not shiny, matte finish). Mikhail Baryshnikov made his film debut in this lightweight but entertaining drama about the relationship between a renowned ballerina (Anne Bancroft) and the woman (Shirley MacLaine) who had trained with her but had given up dance to become a wife, mother, and teacher. Between MacLaine's envy over her friend's career and the attention her own ballerina daughter (Leslie Browne) is getting, MacLaine's character goes through a complicated crisis. The two actresses carry the story very well and probably camouflage its thinness; they even make a somewhat condescending climax involving a catfight seem like a good idea. A subplot involving a developing romance between the virginal Browne and Baryshnikov's womanizer makes for pretty window dressing. Carlo and Corrado Assenza are brothers. The Thread Genie is an invisible thread reel that gives you useable length of invisible thread in a compact unit that can be concealed anywhere. While the thread is invisible, you can instantly gain access to it by merely grabbing the wax ball, and moving out from the reel to an object such as a table edge, deck of cards, or book as an anchor.
The Thread Genie clips under the jacket collar, inside the edge of the shirt, or top of the shirt pocket, anywhere that the thread will have a non-restricted path feeding out of the reel to the anchor point. The end of the thread is attached to the wax ball that is pressed to its side, merely pull the wax ball free of the Genie and move it out from the body and press it to the anchor point and you will be left with a line of invisible thread running from the reel to the anchor point.
The thread, while being invisible, is very strong for its thinness, but do be careful not to break it with quick jerky motions or by straining it.
Floating Bill with the Thread Genie:
Have the Thread Genie attached to the collar and the wax ball anchored to the table edge. Step back, giving space between the two, and show a dollar bill on both sides. Bring the bill flat up from the underneath, against the thread about midway. Twist the bill by folding it in thirds over the thread and giving a half twist sort of bowtie fashion. Hold one hand below allowing the bill to rest on the open palm and the other hand above. Wave the upper hand and slowly lower the other hand allowing the bill to float in mid air. You can wave the hands all around the bill as it floats. To disconnect, merely untwist the bill, and unfold bringing the bill down and away from the thread.
Besides floating a bill, you can cause a straw to rise from a bottle, a ring to rise up and down on a pencil, or even a card to rise from a deck. Use your imagination to come up with ways of using the Thread Genie to handle all your invisible thread needs. |
